Episode 7 - Birds of Prey
In this episode, Will and Aaron review and pick apart Birds of Prey, a 2002 WB show featuring a few obscure characters from the DC Universe. There was lots of fighting in it.
News from the Chopping Block: Issue 5
In this issue, Will and Aaron discuss three shows that all had an axe gently delivered to their necks: Valentine, The Ex List, and Easy Money. Also, updates on other cancellations, upcoming DVD releases, and the first Axed Question.
Episode 6 - The Black Donnellys
A few years ago, Paul Haggis devised a show that sounded a lot like the Sopranos if all the characters were angsty tweeners. It got canceled almost immediately, and the remainder of its 13-episode purchase had to be shown online. Nobody noticed, so they released it on DVD. Still nobody noticed. So now we’re doing it on Axed. Today Will and Aaron present The Black Donnellys.
News from the Chopping Block: Issue 4
Opportunity Knocks? More like Opportunity Blows! Am I right? Yes I am, cause it was canceled. Also, updates on shows that somehow dodged the network executives’ bloodstained axes and discussion of canceled shows coming out on DVD.
Will’s American Gothic Notes
As part of our Halloween Spooktacular or whatever, here are Will’s notes on American Gothic. This is considered part of our Halloween thing not because American Gothic is a horror-related series, but because reading these notes will surely drive you mad. By downloading this you are acknowledging that reading Will’s insane ramblings is your own choice and not a requirement in any way. Also, Guantanamo listeners: this is worse than water-boarding.
Episode 5 - American Gothic
On a very special episode of Axed, Will attempts to tell Aaron what the short-lived show American Gothic was about. Aaron was, in his words, too busy to actually watch the show this time. That is most likely a lie.
News from the Chopping Block: Issue 3
Yet another axe falls as The Riches officially gets canceled by FX. Also, discussion of a USA Today article profiling shows with declining ratings, upcoming DVD releases, and updates on Axed.
Episode 4 - Eerie, Indiana
Eerie, Indiana ran on the Fox network (never a good sign) during the 1991-92 season. Despite a developing cult following, it suffered the wrath of Fox’s axe-happy executives. In this episode, Will and Aaron dissect the show and pinpoint what it did wrong and what else it did wrong.
News from the Chopping Block: Issue 2
Big news this week as Do Not Disturb becomes the first show of the new season to be canceled. Will and Aaron discuss the shortcomings and utter failures of the show (those are its two categories), followed by discussion of upcoming canceled TV on DVD releases and listener mail.
Episode 3 - The Adventures of Brisco County, Jr.
The Adventures of Brisco County, Jr. aired from August 1993 to May 1994 before being canceled. Created by Lost creator Carlton Cuse and Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade scribe Jeffrey Boam, this Bruce Campbell-helmed sci-fi western brimmed with adventure and humor, but Fox didn’t care. They usually don’t.
